On Thursday, April 30, 2015, teachers and administrators from eight Logan County elementary schools gathered at Chief Logan Conference Center to discuss and celebrate “Number Talks.”

Facilitated by Lynn Baker, NBCT Coordinator, the event allowed schools the opportunity to learn from each other and set expectations for the remainder of this year and next year.

Small group discussions provided teachers the chance to gain feedback regarding the teaching concept including what works well, what is challenging, when students have surprised or pleased them during a lesson, and how the district can continue to support math.

Each school was also given the opportunity to showcase how it has implemented “Number Talks.” Schools presented videos and posters creatively demonstrating using the program in lessons, and some videos showcased students talking about why they like “Number Talks.”

Schools participating in the celebration included: Holden, East Chapmanville, Logan, Man, Omar, Hugh Dingess, Verdunville, and West Chapmanville.
