Chapmanville Regional High School choir students have been receiving recognition across the state of West Virginia.
On January 29-31, 2015, seven CRHS students performed as a part of the winter conference for the WV American Choral Directors Association. Students participating in the All-State Junior/Middle School Choir include: Debra McCoy, Emily Epling, Kaleb Owlsey, and Caley Epling. Students participating in the WV All-State Chamber Choir included: Angel Belcher, Kira Owsley, and Bob Fields.
Seven CRHS students also participated in the 2015 WVMEA All-State Chorus. The conductor for the event was award-wining composer and active conductor, educator, and clinician, Rollo Dilworth. Dr. Dilwoth is the Associate Professor of Choral Music Education at Temple University’s Boyer College of Music in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
CRHS students participating in the chorus with 200 singers from across the state include: Kira Owsley, Madyson Adams, Angel Belcher, Joseph Phipps, Robert Fields, Kristin Maynard, and Nicholas Cyfers.
The CRHS vocal performance classes also took part in the Region Five Solo and Ensemble Festival and Marshall University on February 7, 2015. The adjudicator for the event was David Castleberry, Assistant Dean of Marshall University’s College of Media and Arts. The CRHS singers performed 8 selection and received four superior and 4 good ratings.
