Logan County Schools is proud to welcome two new individuals to its central office staff. Mrs. Mary Lu MacCorkle has joined the district as the new Assistant Superintendent and Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and Mr. Scott Justice is now serving as Director of Elementary Education.
MacCorkle comes to Logan County Schools with more than 30 years of experience in education. She spent the early part of her career as an English teacher and reading specialist in Kanawha County
Schools before taking an administrative position.
Mrs. MacCorkle served as the curriculum assistant principal at Nitro High School before joining the WV Department of Education as the Closing the Achievement Gap Liaison for Kanawha and Raleigh Counties. She also spent time with the WVDE as a State School Improvement Specialist for Boone, Kanawha, and McDowell Counties. Most recently, MacCorkle was the Associate Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction for Fayette County Schools.
MacCorkle holds a BA in English from Morris Harvey College, an MA in reading from the West Virginia College of Graduate Studies, and an MA and Ed.D. in leadership studies from Marshall University.
Mr. Scott Justice has worked for Logan County Schools for 28 years.
He taught at Dehue Elementary and Logan Elementary and has also worked for the special education department. As an administrator, Justice served as the assistant principal for Logan Middle School before spending three years as the principal of Logan Elementary.
Justice holds degrees in elementary education, special education, and educational leadership from Marshall Uni-versity.
He said he is excited to take on his new position.
