After nine rounds of competition, Brooke Ooten was named champion of the 68th Annual Logan County Spelling Bee.
Brooke, a sixth grade student at Logan Middle School, took home the title when she correctly spelled “Iroquois” during the competition held on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Ralph R. Willis Career and Technical Center. Brooke will now go on to represent the county during in the regional spelling bee on March 12, 2016, at Capital High School.
This year’s runner-up is Ava Hill. Ava is a fifth grade student at Chapmanville Middle School.
The county competition featured grade level winners and runners-up from Chapmanville, Logan, and Man Middle Schools. CMS winners included: Ava Hill, Audrey Dingess, Elijah Freeman, Aaron Fletcher, Gage Rayburn, Dakota Bell, Jacob Richardson, and Cody Bryant. LMS winners were: Mike Allie, Diesel Bryant, Brooke Ooten, Emily Sells, Noah McCarty, Sammi Kazee, Ethan Conley, and Christian Maynard. MMS winners included: Brenton Doty, James Green, Autumn Zerfoss, Shyann Evans, Payton Baldridge, Matthey Glandon, Seth Lusk, and Chris Adkins.
