The Man High School class of 2015 participated in an area clean-up as a part in honor of Earth Day on April 22, 2015.
Students worked cooperatively with several Man-area community members and organizations for the event including: Buffalo Creek Fire Department, Buffalo Creek Watershed, DEP, DNR, Healthy Logan County Diabetes Coalition, Kessler Excavation, Lion’s Club of Man, Logan County Emergency Management Services, Logan County Huff Creek Watershed, Logan County Sherriff’s Department, Logan County Solid Waste Authority, and WV State Police.
Students and volunteers collected and disposed of 1.37 tons of garbage plus numerous tires along Huff Creek, Buffalo Creek, and Route 80.
MHS Assistant Principal, Angel Harris, says the event was well-received in the community.
“This was a wonderful opportunity for our students and staff to help make a difference in our area. We had so many people that helped make this event a success including Delegate Rupie Phillips, Brian and Amy Lusk, the Logan County Board of Education, Man Middle, and all of the community members and organizations that volunteered or donated. It was a group effort, and we are proud of the work we accomplished.”
