Logan High School choir students have been showcasing their talents across the state.
Musco Adams, Katelyn Barnhart, Nathaniel Chapman, Hayley Gudis, and Tia Jeffrey were all selected as members of the 2015 WV ACDA Junior/Middle School All-State Chorus. LHS sophomore Lindsey Gore was named to the WV ACDA All-State Chamber Choir.
Six LHS students were also named to the WV Music Educator Association’s All-State Chorus. Those students include: Makayla White, Kennedy Miller, Lexi Morgan, Lindsey Gore, David Spurlock, and Richard Ojeda.
This year’s all-state choir members produced the highest number of LHS students in more than ten years.
The LHS vocal ensemble has had the opportunity to perform at several recent clinics and conferences.
On February 13, 2015, the ensemble participated in the 2015 WV National Association for Music Education’s All-State Choral Clinic at Glenville State College. The ensemble also provided a vocal demonstration during the recent WV Music Educator Association’s conference.
LHS choir director, Ellen Ramey, was given the opportunity to present a clinic entitled “Chorale in the Coalfields (The Challenges of Teaching the Performing Arts in Rural West Virginia Schools).”
This month, members of the LHS vocal ensemble will be participating in Marshall University’s SCORES Competition and Glenville State College’s Honor Choir Festival.
