Logan Co BOE Reviews Policies

The Logan County Board of Education is currently reviewing its acceptable use of internet and electronic devices policies for students and staff and is encouraging public comments.

Superintendent of Logan County Schools Phyllis Doty says technology is an important part of education and should be used by staff and students appropriately.

“We encourage our teachers to integrate technology in their classrooms in order to provide unique learning opportunities for our students. As the use of electronic devices continues to increase inside and outside of the classroom, we want to guarantee that everyone in Logan County Schools is using technology in a positive manner to raise academic achievement.”

The updated policies discuss the acceptable use of school and personal technology (computers, tablets, laptops, and cellphones), internet use, and social media use. The policies cover a number of other topics including accountability and responsibility, network etiquette, vandalism, and plagiarism.

Logan County “embraces the use of technology to promote educational excellence, resource sharing and communication, and innovative instruction and provide electronic access to a wide range of information.”

Copies of the policies are available at the Logan County Schools administrative office at West Logan or on the district’s website here.

Public comment is permitted and encouraged during regular meetings for the Logan County Board of Education. The next regularly-scheduled meeting will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2014, at 6:00 PM at the Ralph R. Willis Career and Technical Center.
