Browning Named Principal of the Year

Jason Browning was recently named the 2013-2014 Principal of the Year by RESA 2. The Chapmanville Middle School principal was honored for the award during RESA 2’s council meeting on June 25, 2014. A committee of superintendents selected Browning for the award based on an in-depth application process examining student achievement, leadership skills, com-munity involvement, and professional development.

Some of the successful practices of CMS include the school’s leadership team, community involvement with organizations such as the Goshen Project and LEAD Organization, weekly grade level planning meetings, and the school’s collaborative approach for academic success.

Browning said Logan County is a special place, and he hopes to continue making a difference in his community.

“I am extremely thankful for the support of my county ad-ministration, teachers, students, and the community of Chapmanville. I am grateful that my work is making a difference in the community, so our children may receive a strong education that will allow them to compete globally.

“I desperately want them to be able to stay where my family has called home for generations. I want the rest of the world to know what I al-ready understand: these mountains are in your soul, and these people are the salt of the earth. This region is a great place to call home.”

RESA 2 serves Logan, Lincoln, Mingo, Cabell, Mason, and Wayne Counties.
